16. The Charlotte Museum of History , Charlotte, North Carolina
Charlotte Museum of History This historic museum combines a variety of historic buildings and a forest of eight acres located in east Charlotte. The oldest of those structures in existence is Hezekiah Alexander's House, a 5000 square foot rock house built around 1774. Alexander House is a National Historic Site.
It is the earliest remaining house in Mecklenburg County. Reproductions include log kitchens, barn and two-storied spring house. These exhibit areas include three galleries and document Charlotte's historical and cultural history in the 17th to 20th century.
