In the town of Munich, the München Residenz is the former Royal House of the Bavarians. It's a favourite Munich attraction. The city currently contains various museums and theatres. 02. English Garden
English Garden, sometimes called English landscape garden or English garden is named as such due to its origins. It has been designed by the famous English architect William Kent (1784-1748), who designed and built the natural architecture. Kent derived his design inspiration from landscape painting by Claude Lorrain and Nicholas Poussine.
Occasionally the garden had a Chinese tower introduced during the seventeenth century that is now referred to as the Anglo-Chinese Garden. A Gothic revival ruin was added to a garden by the middle 1700s.

03. Englischer Garten
When comparing the map of the town you will see the size of Englischer Garten. The park was created around the 18th century and starts on the west banks of Isaar near the Residenze and seems to continue.
It covers an area of over 370 acres of lawns, trees, pastures and lakes and is also home to the worlds largest urban park and is larger than Central Park in New York City. There are other interesting little sights that you can't miss.

04. Marienplatz and the Neues Rathaus
Marienplatz has served as the central square in Munich since its genesis. On the far side of this square the Alte Rathaus forms an entrance gate. The large open square is the Mariensäule, a large statue of Virgin Mary built in 1538 and the Fischbrunnen, an old fountain that also includes statues from earlier nineteenth century fountains.

05. Neue Pinakothek
King Ludwig I admired the contemporary arts of the 19th century accumulated numerous valuable items during this period. The Neue Pinakotheker houses over 400 paintings dating back to the 1890s that tick all the influential movements that have dominated the era.

07. Alte Pinakothek
Alte Pinakothek dates back at least 1836 and remains an important art museum worldwide. Neo-Renaissance designs served to model gallery designs which began in Rome, Brussels and St. Petersburg. King Ludwig I had ordered it to house a rare dynastic collections of the Wittelsbach, begun by Duke William IV in the 1500s.
It produced 800 Dutch, Flemish Italian and Spanish paintings between 1200 and 1800 of excellent quality. Peter Paul Rubens Albrecht Dürer / Van Dyck represented a group of master artists with many paintings.

08. Munich Residenz
For centuries the seat of the dukes and electors of Bavaria, the Munich residence was considered the most magnificent palace in the whole of Europe. 10. Take a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle

11. Shop at Christmas Markets (Christkindlmarkts)
From November 4 through December 25 parks and streets in Munich transform into a bright and sparkling festive celebration with colorful lights amidst evergreen trees and festive musicals.
Colorless gingerbread heart decorations decorate little cabins filled with candy, biscuits, wooden games, Christmas decorations, baubles and locally made crafts from any medium. 12. BMW Museum
Near BMW headquarters and factory on the Olympic Park is a modern round building in a steel shell that houses a BMW museum. The fan will find examples from almost every model the firm has created, including sports cars, race cars and motorcycles.

The lovely Rococa Asam Church dedicated at Saint John of Nepomuk was constructed by brothers Cosmas and Egid Asam in 1746 and features stucco figures, murals and paintings. Its exterior has an amazing appearance especially the huge doorways flanked by massive columns and highlighted by a statue of St. John kneeling in prayer.

27. Bayerische Staatsoper (Bavarian State Opera House)
Max-JosephPlatz 2, 85039 München. The German State Opera House. It is a world-wide prestigious opera house and operates since mid-19th. The bayerische Staatsoper hosts the Bayerische Staats Opera and Ballet Company.
Karl von Fischer designed the Bavaria State Opera House based on the impressive Odéón Theater in Paris. The theater made its grand opening 1818 in a play by Ferdinand Fränzing. Unfortunately, the building was destroyed a year later in 1823 by fires. In 1824 it was refurbished immediately.
