Vermont is lovely, friendly, charming and full of interesting things to do in Vermont for visitors. Currently I have more than 30 things I love about the beautiful Green Mountain State of Vermont. I'm very competent with describing it.
01. Green Mountain Railroad
If you want to see multiple top Vermont attractions in a single trip, buy a ticket for the Green Mountain Railroad. If you have “take a scenic train ride through the countryside” on your bucket list, the Green Mountain Railroad is the place to book it.
You'll be taken through some of the most beautiful sights in the northeast, and all the while, you'll be reclining on cushioned seats and enjoying the hospitality of a charming, old-fashioned railway service.
02. Road trip Vermont Route 100
Vermont's road trips can go anywhere during the winter but in Autumn when the foliage is most impressive. The best route to travel through the state is via the 100 route which runs almost all over the state. These roads travel through stunning landscapes and there are a number of wonderful stops along your journey if you visit Vermont.
03. Must Do in Vermont: Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory Tour
The ice cream shop tour by Ben Jerrys has become so famous that they are delicious. The legend started with two friends in 1978 at an abandoned gasoline station where two friends decided to sell ice cream. Visitors can now see their ice cream plant from Burlington, Vermont to learn more about its development.
Thirty-minute tours explain the process of creating ice cream; some tours are offered at the manufacturing facility at times without ice cream production. Please see their calendars first. There are ice-cream and gift stores at the hotel. In the winter season visitors will be able to take an Umiak snowshoe & ice cream journey in just 45mins.

04. Vermont Attractions: Vermont Teddy Bear Factory
Vermont Bear Factory No excursion to Shelburne Vermont is incomplete without an excursion to the Vermont Bear Factory. What began as the handcrafted teddy bear factory in 1981 was now the most sought after teddy bear factory in the country. Tourists can see artisans handcrafting bears in their factories for about 150,00 per year.
The tours are led by bear ambassadors who have great enthusiasm and are very informative. Guests can also produce and purchase bears from the bear doctor's workshop. A visit to the iconic Vermont Teddy Bear Factory is probably one of the best things to do in Vermont with kids. It's actually the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory.
05. Waterbury Village Historic District
Waterbury Village Historic District Ringed by streams and rivers, this Waterbury community gives visitors a sneak peek into the 19th version of Vermont. Why You'll Enjoy This Activity Waterbury Village is a dream come true for history buffs.
06. Vermont Institute of Natural Science Nature Center
Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences. What if there were hawks in the back of your hand? Are owls really cool for selfies? The VINS Nature Center offers such opportunities. Though it serves mainly as an environmental organization, it is known for its bird rehabilitation and visitors come from everywhere for its birds, birdlife, and eagle habitats. Take a canopy tour and watch birds fly across trees. Watch a demonstration for information on the feeding process.
07. Green Mountain National Forest
In addition to the Long Trail, the Vermont section of the Appalachian Trail, there are countless others worth exploring in the Green Mountain National Forest. One of the best hikes in Vermont is to the top of Camel's Hump.
08. Weston Playhouse Theatre Company
Weston Playhouse Theatres offer an authentic theatre experience in a quaint Weston, South Vermont village that hosted live theater in 1936. Tourists can see both main stage and other stages at Walker Farm. West Town Eatery provides excellent dining options for people looking for dinner or an evening of entertainment. The restaurant lies below the cabaret theatre. Theatergoers may choose between cabaret and cocktail if they don't have dinner. Throughout the theater expansion, the audience expects new facilities and expanded programs.
09. Visit the cows at the impressive Shelburne Farms
South of Burlington is Shelburne Farm, an organic working farm offering a lot for visitors. Walk the trail, visit the farm for the children and watch cheese making at a barn. The farm has tremendously produced cheese and milk from the farmsteads.
Shelburne Farm offers a range of fun and exciting activities for children and adults. You are welcome to also take educational guided visits to several areas of our property, however you can just enjoy wandering through this beautiful location.
Shelburne Farms is a 1,400-acre working farm, forest, and National Historic Landmark that serves as a campus for their nonprofit organization committed to providing education for a sustainable future. While in Vermont Our friends took us to see Shelburne Farms and walk around the property.
10. Pump House Indoor Waterpark
What To Do Experience the exhilarating recreational activities at Pump House Indoor Waterpark. Open year-round, this water park has 50,000 square feet of hot tubs, a lazy river and water slides.
Great place for indoor recreation, the Pump House Indoor Waterpark is open rain or shine, so it can be a nice retreat when the weather isn't behaving for outdoor games and sports.
11. Visit the baby (and adult) animals at Billings Farm and Museum
Billings Farm and Museum are an excellent attraction in Woodstock, Vermont. It has cattle, horse drawn cattle and many hand-crafted tasks. I definitely recommend this one as a good family activity in Vermont!
Make it a spring time holiday and maybe you're lucky enough to attend this year's baby farm animals event which seems as lovely as it sounds. Billings Farm Museum deserves a place here. PS: Do not miss the adjacent Marsh-Billing-Rockefeller National Historic Park.. It is an amazing location. Nature trails, Victorian mansions, and other attractions are available to the visitor.
12. Ethan Allen Homestead
This Activity Ethan Allen Homestead is an absolute must-see for history buffs. In 1986, this 1787 farmhouse was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today, it continues to lure visitors who want to learn more about the life of the great Ethan Allen. Check out the Ethan Allen Homestead for a real piece of local history.
13. Rockefeller National Historical Park
Any time of year is a great time to visit the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. This is a beautiful spot with nature trails, a Victorian mansion, and more.
14. See the Lincoln family home, Hildene in Manchester
If you enjoy President Clintons beautiful old house and garden, you will definitely be impressed at Hildene in Manchester, Vermont. This land occupied Lincoln's son Robert Todd Lincoln. There are also lush gardens and breathtaking peaks and an active cattle ranch.
Hildede provides excellent Vermont souvenirs. The Lincoln Family Home Hildene is a stunning Georgian Revival mansion and the family home of President Lincoln's descendants.
15. Check out the Old Round Church
Round structures make a lot of interesting, and Vermont hosts several. This historic church is located in Richmond and it is an interesting sight to explore in Vermont. It is not technically round but is a seventeen sided community meeting place built in 1812-1813. This place definitely deserves an excursion simply due to being unique and photographed but also crucial for the history enthusiast.

16. Church Street Marketplace — Burlington
The Church. Suite 2A Burlington, Vermont 54004 (812) 863-1648. It is located in Burlington and offers great choices for local parties and activities such as dining & shops. This is an excellent spot for people-watching, but it's also the center of the downtown space so there's so much to do, and some of the best shopping in Vermont.
Go shopping and people-watching on Church Street One of the most well-known places to go in Vermont is Burlington's Church Street Marketplace, a pedestrian-only thoroughfare that is bursting with restaurants, shops, and outdoor performers.
17. Spend time on a working farm
A Vermont Farmhouse Stay is a great option for exploring Vermont life. There are several options for doing so including helping to get involved, learning to care for animals, growing food and so forth. We love Fat Sheep Farm and we highly suggest you try if you need something to do close by Hartland Vermont!
18. Vermont Historical Society Museum
How should I get a better understanding of Vermont? Please visit the Vermont History Museum. The museum is centered in Montpelier, Vermont's capital, and features all the green mountain heritage. The exhibitions include a selection of food and fashion, fauna and plants and other topics. You will see taxidermy animal figurines from the original population of the Winoski River. The museum also hosts several special events, both free and open for public use. It doesn't take too much money.

19. Vermont Vacation: Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks
A maple-sweetening plant owned by Morse Farm. The visitor may visit the property throughout the year using guided driving/ walking tours and self-guided excursions. The guided tours begin from the forest theater and end with a delicious sweet treat.
Visitors can also stroll on the natural trail, view whimsical sculptured folklorist figures by Burr Morse, or explore the outdoor Vermont Farmlife Museum or CountryStore.
The Morse family has a combined 200 years of maple syrup-making experience through eight generations at the Morse Farm Maple Sugarworks in Montpelier, Vermont.
20. Fun Things to Do in Vermont: ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain
ECHO Leahy Center Lake Champlain The ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain provides education and research on the environmental management of Lake Champlain's lakes and the lake. The NSB Theatre is the only National Geographic Experience film in Vermont.
Its diverse exhibits and programmes offer a wide array of opportunities, and a range of events for children and youth including a program for "ECHO after dark" that reaches over 21. Campus highlights include LEED certification, Lake Champlain Naval Memorial, and Rubenstein Lab Research Lounges.
This Activity Lake Champlain Ferries aren't just modes of transportation in the area. With awe-inspiring nature views, this trip is truly an affordable and unique way to experience the majesty of Lake Champlain.
21. Visit the Cold Hollow Cider Mill
I think that Cold Hollow Cidermill is a must visit destination in Vermont. Waterbury is a stopover at Stowe, as well as Cold Hollow is a favorite place. These cider mills, cider stores, restaurants, hard cider shops & much more are in operation here. Its totally cute, perfectly fall and is fragrant. I guarantee your stay here will be pleasant and relaxing. You have to get ice cream for apples and donuts.
22. Fall Foliage
Loved the drive so much, especially during fall foliage. Fall Foliage at its best Fantastic area between Smuggs and Stowe and I can now understand why they close the road in the winter! Beautiful area with many hikes, camping, etc. for the family.
23. Visit the top of the Bennington Battle Monument
In Southern Vermont, it is not necessary to visit Bennington's Battle Memorial. This tall building reaches 306.6 feet and 4.6 inches! These historic structures can be seen from a distance. When you get there you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding green mountains and it would also be a very beautiful place to visit in Vermont in fall.
24. Ride the gondola to the top of Mount Mansfield
Mount Mansfield is Vermont's highest mountain. During the winter the area hosts ski trails, and during summer visitors can climb the red Gondola SkyRide. The view from above is spectacular and is a top attraction in Vermont.

25. Stowe Mountain Resort, Vermont
The Stowe Mountains Resort offers numerous outdoor activities year round due to the Mount Mansfield which provides the resort with an eclectic trail network. During the winter months guests can take skiing or snowboarding on 115 different terrain tracks covering a 450 acre area.
Visitors can enjoy cosy dining venues such as the Fireside Restaurant and Hourglass bar & lounge and enjoy the fun and unique activities at the resort including Rail Jam competitions and seasonal entertainment. Guests can relax in the Spa at Stowe Mountain Lodge or go shopping during the day at resort retail stores.
26. Things to Do in Vermont: Killington Ski Area
The Killington Ski area contains 73 miles of skiing terrain and 1,500 acres that include 73 miles of hiking trails, from easy to challenging. Diverse terrain options are available for free skiers, snowboarders or quads.
Killington provides an extensive selection of other mountain activities including scenic gondola tours and sleigh rides, snowmobile and snowshoe tours, along with tubing.
27. Bellows Falls Petroglyphs
A few of Vermont's best-known attractions are in the mountains where the Bellows Falls Petroglyph is displayed. The ruins are an archaeological masterpiece from prehistoric times, that has been written right on the rocks and will be visible by any visitor.
The utmost important feature about a petraphylph is that it's not as common with others who identify themselves as Native American. Nevertheless many records of signs and symbols that have been adopted during the early years of Vermont have not been specific. It's hard to say exactly who is in this carving, and experts believe it to be around 33,000 years old.
28. What to Do in Vermont: Montshire Museum of Science
Montshire Museum of Science The Montshire Museum is an interactive and immersive science museum located on more than 400 acres in Norwich, New England. There are over 140 displays in the areas of science technology or ecology.
The outdoor ambience of the museum plays significant roles in the overall experience with a number of features including bird-eyed viewing and a vantage point in the trees and Blood Brooke loop, a 4.5-mile path along the lagoon. Guests can experience multiple interactive experiences, from the study of native plant life to astronomy.
29. Wilson Castle
Wilson Castle has a unique setting that makes Vermont unique and cool. The Wilson Castle was commissioned by a doctor whose wife was an English aristocracy and wanted to impress her husband's wife by building an extravagant castle that cost 1.2 million dollars.
The final product was an impressive 3-storey mansion that included windows and parapets from windows to turrets and pillars. It has no unique architecture, combining elements from Scottish Baronial Romanesque Revival or Dutch Neo-Renaissance. Do you have the color orange on the top?? Wilson Castle is a place worth seeing.
30. Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium — Saint Johnsbury
1302 Main St. Saint Johnsbury, Vermont 05189. The attraction was built in 1890 and combines an earth-themed planetarium and a historical and natural history museum for the visitors. Great Northern Forest, and the only public access planetarium in the state. There are more than 30,000 objects in both temporary and permanent museum displays.
