Trains are an important aspect of Georgian heritage and Blue Ridge Scenic Railway is an affordable attraction that provides the equivalent of a historical lecture on a train. The BRSR train departs from the Blue Ridge downtown rail depot on a scenic 13-mile ride along the Toccoa River.

Voluntary conductors and “car host’s” are truly an informative source, and parents relax to watch and hear the story of the past as their children enjoy the scenic views of the mountains of North Georgia.

05. Hike to one of 16 waterfalls in the area

(Photos) Blue Ridge offers a great opportunity for a great outdoor vacation. Some trails to the Falls are relatively easy and some quite challenging. There are a number of challenges worth considering. Amicalola is a 749-foot waterfall, the largest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River.

Visitors recently called the incredible magnitude of these waterfalls a wonder. During the day the trail to Jacks River Falls takes a hike through remote, rocky forests that are ideal for more experienced hiking users.
